Food Coordinator
Contact food-service businesses & companies to secure breakfast & lunch (with vegetarian/vegan options) for all volunteers during camp week, as well as campers who receive free lunch. Also in charge of a (relatively healthy) daily afternoon snack for all campers, with options for those with food allergies. Arrange for food to be delivered, shopped for or picked up daily during camp week & supervise all food prep in the kitchen & cafeteria area. May work with partnering/sponsorship people.
- Timetable: part-time, starting in spring, then full-time & on-site during camp week. Must own or have access to a car to facilitate food pickups.
Head Roadie
Solicits all musical equipment (lent or donated) for camp week. Transport or arrange transport for gear, find a safe space to collect gear directly prior to & after camp week, maintain gear inventory & label everything. During camp week, will be in charge of setting up & breaking down rooms for instrument & band practice, as well as assist with workshops requiring gear & set up for guest performers. Also supervises other roadies. Lots of lifting & attending to last minute gear requests.
- Timetable: part-time, starting in spring, then full-time & on-site during camp week. Must own or have access to a car or van to facilitate gear pickup.
Gear Care Expert
Look over gear before camp & fix it up as needed. During camp week, should be on hand to fix or patch up broken or damaged gear, pull unfixable gear from rotation, instruct campers on proper care (possibly holding a workshop for younger girls) & communicate with head roadie about equipment.
- Timetable: must be available directly before camp & on-site during camp week.
Head Instrument Instructor
Ensures that instructors have information on their students & confirm that each skill & instrument level’s material is uniform. Also, discovers needs of instrument instructors & provides materials to instrument instructors without specific plans. Musical experience required.
- Timetable: very part-time, beginning in spring. Should be available & on-site during camp week.
Counselors
Background check required
Responsible for checking in their assigned group of campers in the mornings & signing them out in the afternoon. They also walk their campers to & from instrument & band practice, check in with them during lunch, and may have to field questions from parents (though they can direct parents to the head counselor). Counselors will receive their camper’s names & information right before camp & can double as instrument instructors or band coaches during camp week. No musical experience required to be a counselor.
- Timetable: a couple of meetings before camp, then must be on-site for camp week.
Instrument Instructors
Musical experience & background check required
Responsible for teaching campers during morning lessons in drum, bass, guitar, keyboards, vocals & DJ’ing. Instructors also collaborate with other instructors of the same instrument. They can also double as a counselor or band coach.
- Timetable: a couple of meetings before camp, then part-time on-site during camp week.
Band Coaches
Background check required
Assist an assigned camper band during afternoon band practice. They offer suggestions & keep the peace while campers create their original song. Band coaches should always be positive with their commentary & be careful not to lead the bands in a particular direction. Also, keep counselors & instrument instructors informed if tensions are running high or campers want more information on their instruments. Coaches can double as counselors or instructors during camp week.
- Timetable: a couple of meetings before camp, then part-time & on-site during camp week.
Showcase Coordinator
In charge of the final Saturday showcase as far as crew, lighting & running sound. Also recruits other women roadies (possibly some from camp) to help the girls quickly set up & break down after their song. Works with head roadie to move equipment from camp to showcase.
- Timetable: part-time during camp, then must be at showcase venue for much of Saturday.
