Girls Rock Philly presents: After School Program
GRP is thrilled to announce its newest program, which joins our annual Summer Rock Camp and our drop-in program Barracuda Club! Our after school program is designed to be a fun way to learn how to create and play music, collaborate and perform. Classes will be taught by Girls Rock Philly staff- all of whom are local musicians with skills and experience teaching, playing and performing music.
The After School Program will feature the same elements as our GRP Summer Camp: learning to play instruments, writing songs, playing in bands, attending workshops, building self-confidence, collaborating, as well as other wonderful things that help girls rock, including dedicated homework help time! Students learn bass, guitar, drums or keyboards, then form bands and write an original song to perform at the Final Showcase. Workshops will cover topics such as Songwriting, Recording, Band Art, Improv and DIY Zines and Comic making.
Spring 2013 dates: Tuesday January 29 – Thursday April 18 (Showcase on Saturday April 20).
Program Details
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:30 – 6:30 pm*
No experience necessary // 12 spaces available for girls ages 9-17
*Girls enrolled in the After School Program are welcome to participate in Barracuda Club, our weekly drop-in program, on Wednesdays from 3:30 – 6:30 pm.
Cost
GRP Programs are open to all girls, regardless of ability to pay. We use a sliding scale model, which we feel allows all families and caregivers to determine their own payment amount.
We offer two options for payment, monthly or pre-pay:
Monthly: $10-$150
Pre-Pay: 1-time payment of $30-$400
