Girls Rock Philly!

Thanks to all of you who came out & the bands that played our Sugartown benefit show!  Very fun — and even more fun is deciding what new (or gently used) piece of gear we should buy for camp with the proceeds.

We’re also looking for gear loans for camp (August 3-8, remember).  We’ve got 15 drummers this year, as well as a slew of guitarists, keyboardists and bassists.  If you’ve got an amp, a drum kit, mics, mic stands, guitars, basses or DJ’ing equipment to loan, contact gear@girlsrockphilly.org.

All on-site equipment is insured for the week & we’ve even arranged for you to conveniently drop off any GRP loans or donations at DiPinto Guitars at 407 Girard Ave. in Fishtown during their regular hours.   

Thanks to everyone who played, volunteered & stopped by our silent auction/rock show/party! We raised tons of funds & are officially cleaned out of camper spots for the year. So exciting.

Thanks for coming to our joint benefit with Music & Mentorship!  We have 2 new drum kits & a sweet guitar to show for it.

SUNDAY, JUNE 7th from 2-5pm, GRP is holding its 3rd annual silent auction! Lots of bands, drinks provided by Philadelphia Brewing Company, food & tons of great auction items.  It’s free to stop by, free to hear the bands, free to eat!

SATURDAY, JUNE 27 — Sugar Town is hosting what is turning out to be an annual (21+) GRP benefit at Tritone! Featuring Acres of Diamonds, the Lemon Treasures & DJ Julia Factorial!

Thanks to you, we filled all of our camper spots for this summer’s GRP in record time! If you applied, your acceptance packet should be on its way soon, but we are no longer accepting applications for 2009.

But why not attend one of our benefits, like our Gear Drive & Benefit Show on Saturday, May 23rd at Johnny Brenda’s?

Or our 3rd Annual Silent Auction on Sunday, June 7th at 117 South Street?

(We’ve got one more camper space we’re saving for the auction, btw, so you’ve got a chance to get a deal on this last available space as well!)

**Update!** More good news: GRP has received two grants this spring!

Thanks to the Womens Way’s Community Women’s Fund & Open Meadows Foundation for their generous support of Girls Rock Philly. Both organizations do admirable work for their communities & we highly recommend that you check them out & support them if you can.

We’ll also be repping one more time this spring at the Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby from 12pm-5pm on Saturday, May 16th. The Kinetic Sculpture Derby is at the Trenton Avenue Arts Festival on the 2000-2300 blocks of Trenton Avenue in the Kensington Neighborhood of Philadelphia, PA.

We’ve just gotten back from the Girls Rock Camp Alliance retreat in Austin, TX & are so energized to improve your summers & ours.
