WORKSHOP DETAILS

We’re looking for workshops that promote our mission to empower our participants through music education, and activities that foster a joyful culture of creativity, critical thinking, and collective care. We’re excited to co-create a space for participants to come together and build community based on shared experiences and sharing experiences, and are eager to support new and returning facilitators do just that! In addition to our collaborative music-mentoring framework, we acknowledge that GRP is part of a growing international network, the Girls Rock Camp Alliance, that seeks to align itself with other national and international movements for justice and equity.

We look for workshops that fall into our 4 cornerstones:

(topics have included but are not limited to home recording, songwriting, harmonies, improvisation)
i.e. DYI: Build Your Own Contact Mics

∇ ∇ Fearless Expression ∇ ∇
(topics have included but are not limited to stage presence, self-defense, yoga, boundaries/consent, band art)
i.e. Tune Into Yourself! Move, Stretch and Reflect

∇ ∇ Thoughtful Analysis ∇ ∇
(topics have included but are not limited to explorations in feminisms, media literacy, intersectionality, systems, histories, cultural appropriation, gender and identity)
i.e. Rock and Roll was invented by a Black Queer Woman

∇ ∇ Imaginative Action ∇ ∇
(topics have included but are not limited to learning about social change work, building community, making change, building alternative structures and spaces, touring, booking shows)
i.e. Countermapping Philadelphia

APPLICATION FORM

1) Propose a workshop you would like to lead on this application form. We’d like to encourage you to approach this as the expert you are and think about the particular skills you have to share with our campers.

2) We’re opening the Hold This Space workshop to a new facilitator! Share with us why you’d like to run this workshop.

NOTES
*Please feel free to collaborate on workshops and proposals!

*Each workshop group will have approximately 15 campers of the same age. Please let us know which camp week your workshop is appropriate for, or if you’re interested in doing both!

*Workshops are 60 to 90 minutes – please let us know how long your workshop will run.

*Be sure your workshops have lots of interactive components — this is summer camp, not study hall!

*We hope to provide our presenters with the A/V equipment they need (computers, projectors, etc).
